Merck Hib Vaccine Recall

Monday, December 17, 2007

Merck recently announced that they will voluntary recall 11 lots of PedvaxHIB and 2 lots of COMVAX. My daughter, Gillian Reese, is taking series of vaccines for the past few months and Hib is one of those. I'm relieved to know that the affected vaccines are those distributed in the US only. If you still have questions regarding this matter, you can check our CDC Merck HIB Recall FAQ.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all our relatives, friends, ex-colleagues and to those who are reading this in the US!

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday to give thanks for the things that one has at the conclusion of the harvest season. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada [via Wikipedia]

I wonder when will I get my first taste of turkey :)

Erap Is Now a Freeman... WHY?!?

Friday, October 26, 2007

Ms. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo granted convicted and deposed president Joseph 'Erap' Estrada a presidential pardon making Erap a freeman as of today!

When I first heard this news, I really dont know what to think and how to react. This act of GMA is totally unacceptable! Erap was found GUILTY of USING PUBLIC FUNDS! He committed crime against the Filipino people. Then why set him free?

I thought, our justice system is finally working but I was wrong. GMA is making us all stupid!

Let me leave you with this...

Tatay: Anak, mag aral ka maigi para makahanap ka ng trabaho or maka pagpatayo ka ng sarili mong negosyo.

Anak: Di na po kailangan un tatay... papasok na lang ako sa pulitika

Tatay: Walang pera dun anak.

Anak: Meron po tatay! Magnanakaw na lang ako sa kabang bayan, kung makulong man ako, siguro pag tapos ng 6 na taon lalaya na rin ako... tapos nun eh di buhay mayaman na tayo!

Below are some of the initial photos taken from the explosion / bombing site in Glorietta Mall this afternoon. After seeing these pictures, I'm convinced that this is caused by a bomb.

Philippines-ZTE Broadband Saga

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

The Philippines-ZTE broadband deal saga got another twist! It now involves First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.

I wonder what will happen if speaker Jose de Venecia withdraw his support on Arroyo administration. Blood is thicker than water right? I smell another impeachment brewing.

Erap Is Guilty of Plunder

Wednesday, September 12, 2007

BREAKING: Former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada is convicted on plunder case!

Joseph "Erap" Estrada's Verdict

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

Finally! After 6 years of trial on the alleged P4-billion plunder case against ousted president Joseph "Erap" Estrada, the Sandiganbayan will issue its verdict tomorrow.

It's really hard to say what would be the outcome. But if I would base it on recent news/rumors about administration offering a pardon, Erap will definitely be convicted.

Wyeth Milk Products Recall

Thursday, August 09, 2007

Wyeth recalled more canned milk products in the market due to the rust and alleged mold in its containers. After learning about this, I immediately check which specific products are affected since my baby is using S26 Gold which is manufactured by Wyeth. I'm thankful that S26 Gold is not included. According to reports, below are the affected products:

- Bonna Infant Formula
- Bonamil Milk Supplement Stage 2
- Bonakid Growing Up Milk Stage 3
- Promil Stage 2
- Promil Kid Stage 1
- Progress Gold and Promil Gold

According to Wyeth, the problem arises when typhoon Milenyo damage their facility in Laguna. This is a bit alarming since if that is the case, how come those affected products still go out in the market? BFAD should punish Wyeth for this!

IT Professionals Going... Going... Gone!

Found this interesting article from Inquirer entitled "Software firms worried over foreign hiring practices". It talks about the so-called "very aggressive" hiring practices of some Singapore-based companies. The Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA) is very much worried because they are losing key people to these companies. The article did not mention a particular company or set of companies but it seems that they are mainly referring to B.C. (if you are familiar with the situation, you know what B.C. means).

I know a lot of very good IT professionals who are now working in this company. They offer very competitive compensation package that is why it attracts some of the best local IT professionals. IMHO, this will not stop unless local software companies re-structure their compensation package. Try to spread the wealth and see the difference.

Miss Universe 2007

Wednesday, May 30, 2007

Last night, my wife and I were able to watch the primetime telecast of Miss Universe 2007 on Studio 23. Miss Japan was crowned as Miss Universe for the first time so most people (just like me) is curious on how she won the title.

Here are some points I noticed about this event.
1. The stage is so simple and boring.
2. The host are boring.
3. The questions asked by the judges are too shallow.
4. The swimwear photo shot is too daring. Is it intended for men's magazine?
5. Tension between Mexico and US is evident after Miss USA got booed on several occasions (all about immigration issues).

Also check out this video of Miss USA on her fall or slip (whatever you want to call it) during the night gown presentation.
