Android's $10 Million Developer Challenge

After the unveiling of Android and the Open Handset Alliance last week, Google today made Android's Software Development Kit (SDK) available for download. As an added bonus, Google launched Android Developer Challenge wherein they will give away $10 million in awards for great mobile applications built on the Android platform.

How I wish I have spare time to join this competition. Nonetheless, I will definitely explore Android's SDK very soon.

Silverlight 1.0 Is Here!

Microsoft officially launch Silverlight 1.0 which aims to compete with Adobe's Flash in providing rich web applications.

Microsoft Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of .NET based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. Silverlight offers a flexible programming model that supports AJAX, VB, C#, Python, and Ruby, and integrates with existing Web applications. Silverlight supports fast, cost-effective delivery of high-quality video to all major browsers running on the Mac OS or Windows.

I tried Silverlight before during its early days. I think it will definitely give Flash a serious competition :)

.NET Framework 3.0 Released

The much awaited .Net Framework 3.0, formerly known as WinFX, has been released! My favorite feature is Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), formerly known as Avalon, which is the next-generation of presentation sub-system for Windows. I've used it for more than a year in my previous company and I was amazed of what you can do. Download it now!
